§ 30.01.002. Renaming of public and private streets and roads.

  • A.

    As used in this Section, the term "public and private streets and roads" shall mean public and private streets and roads as defined in Chapter 40 of this Code pertaining to zoning.

    B.

    The renaming of existing public and private streets and roads in the County outside of municipalities shall be effected by resolution of the County Council, provided that no less than seven (7) days prior to final action of the County Council the Department of Land Use shall cause at least one (1) public notice thereof to be posted along the street or road concerned, and the Clerk of the County Council shall cause such notice to be published at least once in a newspaper of general circulation in the County.

    C.

    A copy of all resolutions adopted by the County Council renaming public and private streets and roads in the County, outside of municipalities, shall be recorded by the Clerk of the County Council in the Office of the Recorder of Deeds in and for the County and indexed alphabetically by the new or old names. A copy of all such resolutions shall also be forwarded to the post office in the City of Wilmington and at the post office nearest the street or road concerned. A copy shall also be forwarded to the Department of Elections for the County.
